Do I have to clear off the desk every time I lower the bed?
No. The stay-level mechanism keeps your desktop horizontal as the bed lowers. Depending on the model, items up to 13–16" tall can remain on the desk — your laptop, books, and coffee stay put.
Are Murphy desk beds sturdy enough for full-time daily office use?
Yes. Our maple hardwood cabinets, steel-reinforced tops, I-beam mattress platforms, and steel mechanism are all commercial-grade. Many customers work from home
full-time on these desks.
Q: What mattress do I need?
Our desk beds accept a standard queen mattress up to 10 inches deep. Unlike competing beds that require a thin fold-up mattress, our beds accept a real 10" queen mattress. The mattress sits in a wood surround so you can store your bed fully made.

Q: Do I need a professional to install it?
Most customers install their beds themselves with a helper. Every order includes a detailed installation guide. We offer factory help over the phone should you need it. The cabinet must be secured into wall studs. If you'd prefer professional help, third-party installation services are available in most areas.
What's the difference between horizontal and vertical models?
Horizontal models (Eden, Phoenix, Easton, etc.) fold the bed lengthwise — the bed head and foot go left-right. Vertical models (Edson, Isle, Donnell, etc.) fold the bed upright and need less wall width.
Q: Can I customize the finish?
All models come in a range of stain finishes at no extra charge. Paint finishes (White, Alabaster, Espresso, Cobalt) are available for $250 more. Call us for a free design consultation and we'll send you finish samples.
